IPv6 Compatibility

Check IPv6 DNS and connectivity signals.

Live lookup

An IPv6 compatibility check looks for the AAAA records a domain publishes and whether those addresses respond. Publishing AAAA without a listening service is worse than publishing none, because IPv6 clients will try it and fail.

How IPv6 Compatibility works

What it does

Check IPv6 DNS and connectivity signals.

What you get

Published IPv6 DNS records and connectivity guidance.

Live data sources

The target is sent to a network provider. Results include their source; timeouts and unavailable data are clearly marked.

What if a check cannot finish?

Confirm your input and try again. A timeout, blocked request, or unavailable provider is not proof that a domain is broken. Internet measurements and third-party services have limits.

IPv6 Compatibility — frequently asked questions

What is an AAAA record?

The IPv6 equivalent of an A record. It maps a hostname to an IPv6 address, and without one IPv6-only clients cannot reach you directly.

Do I need IPv6 for SEO?

Google does not rank on IPv6 support. The real reason is reachability: mobile networks increasingly run IPv6-only and reach IPv4 through a translator that adds latency and failure modes.

I have AAAA records but IPv6 users report errors. Why?

Usually the service is not bound to the IPv6 address, or a firewall rule was only written for IPv4. Publishing the record is the last step, not the first.
