Punycode Converter
Convert international domain names to ASCII.
DNS only carries ASCII, so a domain containing non-ASCII characters is encoded as Punycode, beginning with xn--. This converts between the readable Unicode form and the xn-- form that DNS and registrars actually use.

Punycode Converter — frequently asked questions
Why do some domains start with xn--?
That prefix marks a Punycode-encoded label. Everything after it encodes the original Unicode characters in ASCII so DNS can transport the name.
Are IDN domains a security risk?
They can be. Characters from different scripts can look identical to Latin ones, enabling lookalike domains. Browsers show the Punycode form when a name mixes scripts suspiciously.
Which form do I register and configure?
Register the Unicode name; the registrar converts it. In DNS records, TLS certificates and server configuration, use the xn-- form.
